My Story
As a young child I spent much time assisting my carpenter father on various projects and in the fall, raking leaves into the shape of floor plans in the parkette beside my home. The foundation was already building.
So, being fueled by my fathers passion, I began to study interior decoration with ICS of Canada, learning about design foundations, colour theory, and design styles throughout the history of time.

After a government work contract ended I enrolled in the first ever women in trades program and found myself in a shop learning and making cabinetry. Having this hands-on experience has truly set me up for success. By the age of 26 I earned my accreditation of Certified Kitchen Designer with the N.K.B.A. and the rest as they say is history!
Three children later, 10 house renovations and 18 years as a Journeywoman Millwright, I feel very confident in saying I know the construction, design and renovation industry.

My family say “Elaine you have always been a creator/maker.
You are not only a designer of spaces, but of life.”

And for those who are curious. Adeline Home was named in honour of my grandmother Adeline (Campbell) Sommerville, a lady and a mother of 8 children. Even in the poorest of times, she always knew how to make a house a home.

With love,

Elaine
